SHREVEPORT – After falling to Southern Utah on Monday, the Centenary women’s basketball team will try to shake off the tough loss and beat rival Oral Roberts Saturday in the Gold Dome.

Against the Thunderbirds, freshman Chelsea Johnson led the Ladies with 11 points and a career-high seven rebounds. However, shooting was Centenary’s downfall, as it made just 12 field goals and shot 20 percent from the floor.

Leading the Ladies offense is sophomore Ashley Jackson, who is scoring 8.8 points per game, while classmate Anne Farrell tops the defense with 6.9 rebounds. Farrell now has 349 career boards, which ranks fifth all-time and is just six behind Carly Melvin for fourth place.

Against ORU earlier this season, the Golden Eagles defeated the Ladies 95-42 behind 20 points from Georgia Jones. Centenary, meanwhile, was led by junior Natasha Draganic, who scored 10 points.

Offensively for ORU Janae Voelker tops the team with 17.2 points and Jones follows with 14.6 points per game. Voelker also leads the defense with 194 rebounds, while Jordan Pyle is second with 110.

After Saturdays game, Centenary will be back in action next week at Oakland on Saturday and IPFW on Monday. The game against ORU can be heard on www.GoCentenary.com and 91.3 KSCL with the pregame show starting at 11:45 am.
