Gents Round Out The Summit League

ELMHURST, Ill. – The Centenary men’s golf team was picked to finish last according the 10 Summit League head golf coaches.


UMKC was picked to win it all, as it received three first place votes and 75 total points, while South Dakota State was chosen second (66 points), but was voted first by six coaches. Oral Roberts (third 63 points), Southern Utah and Western Illinois (tied for fourth 54 points) and Oakland (sixth 39 points) were picked to finish in the middle of the pack.


Rounding out the conference is IUPUI (36 points), North Dakota State (25 points), IPFW (23 points), and Centenary (15 points).


The Gents will rely on team leaders, including sophomore Greg Berthelot who led the gents in the fall with a 78.4 stroke average, as well as, junior Nick Faitz (79.0) and freshman Denver Green (79.5) to help them contend for the league title. Centenary will welcome two other freshmen this season, Jesse Gilmer an all-conference performer from Sturgis Charter School and Jason Harris a four-year letter winner from St. Amant High School to solidify a roster of experienced veterans.
