SHREVEPORT—The Centenary men’s basketball team is looking to end a three-game slide when it hosts IUPUI in the Gold Dome on Thursday evening at 7 p.m. The Gents are currently in sixth in The Summit League and need a win to push towards a higher seed in the tournament.

Centenary (7-17, 5-7 Summit) wrapped up a tough road trip with a 78-65 loss at the hands of Oakland last Saturday. The Gents were held to just 32.8 percent (19-of-58) shooting from the field and were out rebounded by the Golden Grizzlies, 42-30. Chase Adams tied his season-high with 23 points, while Gary Redus II and Nick Stallings chipped in with 13 and 12.

Stallings paces Centenary with 16.2 points and 6.4 rebounds a game, while Adams adds 14.7 points and 4.5 assists each contest. Redus improves to 10.9 points a game.

The Gents are shooting 39.2 percent from the floor and averaging 63.0 points a game. They remain atop The Summit League with 9.0 steals and 7.9 three-point field goals made per game. Opponents are out rebounding Centenary by nearly nine rebounds a game, as the Gents pull down 30.3 each outing.

IUPUI (13-11, 6-7 Summit) comes to the Gold Dome just ahead of the Gents in league standings, but fell 91-69 to league-leader North Dakota State on Saturday that ended its recent four-game win streak. In that loss, Jon Avery and Adrian Moss each had 13 points.

The Jaguars are led by Robert Glenn’s 13.0 points a game, while Alex Young and Gary Patterson chip in with 11.2 and 10.5 points respectively. Avery has a team-high 6.1 rebounds each contest. IUPUI knocks down 65.5 points a game and swipes 32.0 boards on the season.

IUPUI and Centenary will compete in its 12th all-time meeting since the 2003-2004 season. The Jaguars currently lead the series, 8-3, but the Gents managed to steal a 58-56 win away in Indianapolis earlier this season. In that game, four Gents scored in double-figures led by Stallings’ 13 points and Adams and Redus’ 12.

Following Thursday’s game, Centenary will host Western Illinois on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. for Homecoming 2009.
