Ladies Gymnastics Finishes Third at TWU Meet

DENTON, Texas – The Centenary gymnastics team (190.350) competed in the Texas Woman’s Meet Friday night and finishing in third place behind North Carolina State (193.850) and TWU (193.600).


The Ladies’ top scorer on the vault was Courtney Hawkins, who registered a score of 9.800. Hawkins’ score tied her for third with North Carolina State’s Becca Teich. Also finishing in the top ten was Alyssa Zawieja, whose score of 9.650 tied for ninth with University of Wisconsin-Whitewater’s Allison Nelson.


On the bars, Centenary’s top finisher was Julia Cornelius, who tied for third with Texas Women’s Rashonda Cannie with a score of 9.700. Cornelius was also led the Ladies on the balance beam, finishing eighth with a score of 9.650.


Hawkins led the Ladies in the floor routine finishing in a tie with UWW’s Justine Weyer for seventh with a score of 9.750.


In the all around Hawkins was again the top finisher for the Ladies, finishing in fifth with a score of 38.125. Also a top finisher for the Ladies was Marissa Schneider, who finished in eighth with a score of 36.850.
