SHREVEPORT-Centenary men's basketball coach Greg Gary has landed two more prep stars for the 2009-10 season. Pedro Maciel and Travis Sims have recently signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Gents program.

Point guard Maciel (6-2/180) of Bay St. Louis, Miss., along with forward Sims (6-6/220), of San Leandro, Calif. have committed to play for a thriving program as Gary begins his second year as the head coach.

Originally from Sao Paulo, Brazil, Maciel averaged 17 points, eight rebounds and four assists per game at St. Stanislaus High School. Maciel played in the Alabama-Mississippi All-Stars high school basketball game in Alabama in the spring.

"Pedro has a very high basketball IQ and good size for a guard," Gary said. "He does it all on the basketball court and comes from an excellent basketball school."

Sims played both basketball and football for his high school, but chose to make basketball his future. On the court, Travis helped lead his team to an HAAL League Championship as a sophomore and senior. He was awarded second team All-League and was a three-year starter, while posting a team-best 9.8 rebounds per game.

"Travis has a good-sized body, shoots the 3 and is very skilled around the basket," Gary said.
