Gents Baseball Hosts Fall Pitching Academy, Golf Tournament

SHREVEPORT-With the fall season approaching, the Centenary baseball team has recently announced the plans of its Fall Pitching Academy and the 17th Annual Curtis H. Stout Golf Invitational.

The Fall Pitching Academy will be held in four camp sessions over the next four months, beginning this week.

Camp one will be held on September 8, 10, 15, 17, 22, 24, 29

Camp two will be held on October 6, 8, 13, 15, 20, 22, 27, 29

Camp three will be held on November 3, 5, 10, 12, 17, 19, 24, 29

Camp four will be held on December 2, 4, 7, 9, 11, 14, 16, 18, 21, 23, 25, 28, 30

Camps are available for 9th-12th graders only.

Registration is limited to the first 10 participants for each camp. Camp 4 is limited to 30 participants. Camps 1-3 are $150 and Camp 4 is $250.

Each camp will begin at 4:00 p.m. and end at 5:30 p.m. at W. Peyton Sheehee Stadium, home of Centenary baseball.

Centenary will host the 17th Annual Curtis H. Stout Invitational on October 30, 2009 at Olde Oaks Golf Club.

The tournament will play as a four-player scramble with an 11:00 a.m. shotgun start. For $150 a player or $500 team, green fees, cart, beverages, boxed lunch and snacks will be included. Prizes will be awarded for first through third place, as well as for any hole-in-ones, the longest drive and closest to the pin.

Following play, there will be a silent auction, a Texas Hold 'em Tournament and presentation of awards.

Along with participation, Centenary baseball is accepting hole sponsorships for $125. There are several sponsorship packages one or a company can purchase.

Proceeds will help benefit Gents baseball in hopes of another successful season on the diamond.
