SHREVEPORT-Maroon and white will take over the pool for the annual Centenary swimming intrasquad meet on Saturday beginning at 2 p.m.

The Centenary swim teams roster over 50 swimmers, bringing back a strong group of returners that look to pace the Ladies and Gents this season.

"I have no idea how they will perform, but I hope to see plenty of good racing," said head coach Butch Jordan.

Eight seniors and three juniors along with five sophomores and 13 freshmen make up the men's squad. While the Ladies roster four seniors, two juniors, 11 sophomores and five freshmen.

"The team captains are in charge so I am excited to see what events they swim.  I am looking forward to seeing how the team and especially the 18 freshmen race for the first time," said Jordan.

"This year's team is not much different from last year except that I think they are determined to prove themselves in the light of our eventual move to D3."

Not only will current Centenary swimmers take part in the meet, but the Ladies and Gents will welcome back former swimmers, who now represent the college as alums, to compete in some of the relay events.

Following the intrasquad, the swimmers will celebrate the start of the season with jambalaya.

The swimmers will open the season at Alabama, facing the Crimson Tide and Vanderbilt on Saturday, Oct. 10.
