SHREVEPORT-Despite scoring first, the Centenary men's soccer team gave up two late goals in a 2-1 upset to Oral Roberts on Saturday evening in Summit League action.

The Gents fell to 3-8-1 on the season and 1-2 in league play with the loss, while the Golden Eagles improved to 6-4-1 and 2-1 against conference opponents.

A silent first half led to a 0-0 tie moving into the final 45 minutes. Centenary fired off four shots to ORU's 10 before heading into halftime.

Sophomore Marcos Rodriguez put the Gents up 1-0 on his first goal of the season when classmate Brian Hurlburt sent a perfect cross pass near the PK spot for Rodriguez, who then found the back of the net at 49:56.

An offsides call, denying ORU its first goal was called, but that didn't stop the Golden Eagles as Juan Chang fired off another hard shot that found its way through junior keeper Rennie Walker's hands at 79:47. He was assisted by teammate Michael Lind on the play, giving the Golden Eagles the momentum shift late in the game.

Two minutes later, Oral Roberts' Aaron Douthit scored on an assist by Jarrett Hamilton that was shot into the bottom left corner, sending the Golden Eagles home with the win.

Centenary tallied 11 shots led by Hurlburt with three, while Rodriguez, sophomores John McHugh and Tate McIntyre each had two. Walker remained in goal all 90 minutes with seven saves.

Oral Roberts had 24 shots, nine on goal. Keeper Andrew Techanchuk garnered four saves.

The Gents will travel to SIU-Edwardsville on Thursday for a 7:00 pm start in non-conference play.
