Gents Soccer Edged by SIU-Edwardsville, 1-0

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill.-The Centenary men's soccer team fired off eight shots, but none found the back of the net as they were edged by SIU-Edwardsville on Thursday evening in non-conference action.

The first half was scoreless until the 35:47 mark when Cougar Kevin Bielicki netted goal on a shot three yards out from Jared Tejada to put SIU-E up 1-0.

The second half was a stalemate as neither team scored. Centenary put up eight total shots to the Cougars' 11. Each squad fired off four shots on goal.

Sophomore Ben Barcelona led the Gents with two shots, while juniors Josh Gomillion and Zac Farrar and sophomore Marcos Rodriquez recorded a shot on goal.

Junior keeper Rennie Walker started in goal and played the first half, making three saves. Freshman Robbie Ramirez came in for the final 45 minutes of play, but did not record a save.

The Gents will take on Western Illinois at 1 p.m. on Saturday in Summit League play.
