Late Goal by UCA Sends Gents Home Empty Handed

CONWAY, Ark.-The Centenary men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to Central Arkansas on Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action.

The Gents (3-11-1) had a chance to score early when senior Todd Faulkinberry put up a shot that hit off the cross bar at 20:38. Freshman Ethan Miller then had his chance on a shot that was saved in goal six seconds later.

The first half ended in a 0-0 tie as Centenary put up six shots to Central Arkansas' seven.

Faulkinberry fired off an early second-half shot, but it wasn't until 77:09 when either team netted goal. Central Arkansas' Joseph Cervantes recorded his sixth goal of the season on an unassisted shot that found its way past freshman goal keeper Robbie Ramirez.

Following the goal, the Gents were only able to put up one shot as sophomore Ben Barcelona's attempt landed wide.

Centenary tallied 10 total shots to Central Arkansas' 13 on the match.

Miller paced the Gents with four shots, three of which were on goal. Faulkinberry and Barcelona fired off two, while sophomore Marcos Rodriguez and junior Dragan Hinic each had one.

Ramirez remained in goal all 90 minutes, garnering two saves, while Ivan Zarate was in goal for Central Arkansas, tallying five saves.

The Gents will take the field for a Summit League match on Saturday against UMKC at 1:00 pm.
