Ladies Golf Takes Eighth at Cowgirl Invitational

LAKE CHARLES, La.-The Centenary women's golf team completed the third and final round of the Cowgirl Fall Invitational hosted by McNeese State in eighth place on Tuesday.

The Ladies cut 14 strokes off their second round for a final round score of 343. On the tournament, Centenary tallied (346-357-343) a total score of 1046, 146 shots behind first place, Central Arkansas.

Senior Jessica Marquart (87-86-83, 256) tied a team-low round of 83 for the day, finishing the tournament in a tie for 35th. Behind her were freshman teammates Kyndal Rose (83-91-86) and Claire Whitis (87-90-83) tied for 38th with a three-round score of 260.

Rounding out the top five for the Ladies were freshmen Rachel Grinnell (89-90-91, 270) and Lauren Raynes (102-94-92, 288) in 42nd and 45th respectively. Playing as an individual was freshman Justine Kemp (90-88-87, 265) who placed 41st overall.

Trailing Central Arkansas in second place was Lamar University (314-304-304, 922) and McNeese State (312-312-310, 934) in third.

C.J. Bobbitt (83-71-70, 224) of Central Arkansas took home top individual honors after defeating Linda Persson (78-72-74, 224) of Lamar in a playoff for first.

The Ladies wrap up their fall season and will be back in action on February 13-16 at the McNeese Spring Invitational.
