ELMHURST, Ill.-After a successful season, Centenary's Katie Valdez and Hisa Turner of the Ladies soccer team were recognized as part of Summit League's All-League teams announced Thursday.

Valdez was named First Team All-League as she led Centenary in all statistical categories. A career-high season, the Houston, Texas native recorded 10 goals and nine assists for 29 points.

Playing in all 18 matches, the sophomore compiled a .578 (52-of-90) shot on goal percentage and recorded two game winning goals. Valdez had two games where she netted two goals, as her best performance came against Southern Utah when she netted both goals in a 2-1 win over the Thunderbirds.

"Katie was certainly a dangerous player all season long. She had a ton of goals for us and she ultimately made a direct impact on the outlook of the game," said head coach Chase Wooten.

Turner was one of 11 freshmen recognized among the league for strong performances in their rookie season. The Baton Rouge, Louisiana native succeeded expectations in the midfield as she garnered one goal and three assists for five points on the season.

Playing in all 18 matches, Turner collected her first goal against Western Illinois on Oct. 23.

"Hisa is a hardworking player who is tenacious on defense. She is a great outside midfielder and played well for us all season," said Wooten.

"Both Valdez and Hisa exceeded expectations. They each had a great season and I am glad they were recognized among the league."

The Ladies finished their season with an 11-6-1 record, while going 3-5-1 in league play.
