The Centenary women's basketball team will close out the 2009 year with a non-conference battle with SEC Ole Miss on Tuesday at 4:30 pm.

LAST TIME OUT
LAFAYETTE, La.-The Centenary women's basketball team dropped its Monday non-conference contest to Louisiana-Lafayette, 77-50, despite having three Ladies reach double-figures. The Ladies (1-11, 0-2 Summit) were looking to build on their first win of the season, however, 31 turnovers proved costly in the loss to the Ragin' Cajuns.

OFFENSIVE HIGHLIGHTS
Offensively, the Ladies are struggling, scoring just 48.2 points per game, while allowing 72.6 ppg. Centenary is shooting just .336 (198-590) from the floor and dishing off 9.7 assists. The key struggle for the Ladies is their 27.8 turnovers a game. Through 12 games, Joseph is the only Centenary player averaging in double-figures with 10.9 ppg. Junior Ashley Jackson and classmate Anne Farrell are right behind with 9.5 and 9.3 ppg respectively.

DEFENSIVE HIGHLIGHTS
Defensively, Centenary averages 6.5 steals per game and pulls down 34.2 rebounds a contest. The Ladies have also tallied 39 blocks this season led by Jackson with 18. Farrell paces Centenary with a team-high 7.8 rpg, while Jackson contributes with 6.6 rpg and has a team-best 18 steals through 12 games.

JACKSON LEADING THE FIVE
Junior Ashley Jackson is working her way into several top 10 categories, as she leads the Ladies with a team-best 20 assists, 18 blocks and 18 steals on the season. Jackson is second-best on the team with 6.6 rebounds a contest and is averaging over 32 minutes a game.

THREE'S COMPANY
Seniors Bethany Joseph and Michaela Berg have shined from behind the arch of late. Joseph leads the squad with 25-of-54 made three-pointers for a team-best 46 percent, while Berg has knocked down 12-of-30 for 40 percent. Against Louisiana-Lafayette, the two combined for 6-of-12 from deep and each hit a game-high 11 points.

FARRELL ON BOARD AT 500
Farrell is working her way up the record books each game. The junior center has broken into the top three all-time. In her last game, Farrell tallied a game-high five rebounds for 93 this season. With 505, she is 50 away from the second place spot with 555 by Zebber Satcher.

FOREST TAKES OVER TOP SPOT
Senior Leslie Forest is now Centenary's all-time leader in blocks with 84 all time. In seven games this season, Forest has tallied eight blocks.

SCOUTING OLE MISS
Ole Miss will play Centenary with an 8-4 record on the season, having won its last two games. The Rebels most recent win came against Winston-Salem State in a 101-46 defeat.

As a team, Ole Miss is averaging 77.9 ppg and 42.1 rpg, led by Bianca Thomas with 21.1 ppg for an SEC-best as well as 5.6 rpg. Kayla Melson is second on the team in scoring with 12.5 ppg, while Shantell Black chips in with 10.9 ppg.

SERIES VS OLE MISS
Tuesday's contest will mark the first time in history that Centenary and Ole Miss meet on the hardwood in women's basketball action.

This game will be the second SEC school Centenary meets this season after dropping a 92-19 contest to LSU back on Nov. 15.

NEXT UP
Following Tuesday's game, the Ladies will re-open Summit League play on Saturday at South Dakota State beginning at 5 pm. Centenary will then take on North Dakota State on Monday, Jan. 4 at 7:00 pm.
