Summit League play returns for the Centenary women's basketball team. The Ladies will travel to face South Dakota State on Saturday at 5:00 pm, followed by a 7:00 pm contest at North Dakota State on Monday.

LAST TIME OUT
OXFORD, Miss-Despite a double-double performance by junior Ashley Jackson, the Centenary women's basketball team had a tough outing at SEC Ole Miss, falling 87-38 on Tuesday in non-conference action. The Ladies (1-12, 0-2 Summit) closed out the 2009 year, dropping its 12th contest of the season, while the Rebels improved to 9-4. Centenary was led by Jackson with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

OFFENSIVE HIGHLIGHTS
Offensively, the Ladies average 47.5 points per game, while allowing 73.7 ppg. Centenary is shooting just .331 (211-638) from the floor and dishing off 9.8 assists. The key struggle for the Ladies is their 27.5 turnovers a game. Through 13 games, Joseph is the only Centenary player averaging in double-figures with 10.5 ppg. Junior Ashley Jackson and classmate Anne Farrell are right behind with 9.8 and 8.8 ppg respectively.

DEFENSIVE HIGHLIGHTS
Defensively, Centenary averages 6.7 steals per game and pulls down 33.7 rebounds a contest. The Ladies have also tallied 42 blocks this season led by Jackson with 21. Farrell paces Centenary with a team-high 7.2 rpg, while Jackson contributes with 6.8 rpg and has a team-best 21 steals through 13 games.

DOUBLE-DOUBLE FOR JACKSON
Despite a team struggle at Ole Miss on Tuesday, Jackson paced the Ladies with her second double-double of the season and sixth of her career with 13 points and 12 rebounds against the SEC Rebels.

SHOOTING SUFFERS
The Ladies only managed to shoot a low 27.1 percent from the floor, knocking down just 13-of-48. Centenary has depended on the long range shooting of late to keep them within reaching distance, but the Ladies only were able to drain 4-of their 23 attempts for 17.4 percent from behind the arc on Tuesday.

FARRELL ON BOARD AT 500
Farrell is working her way up the record books each game. The junior center has broken into the top three all-time. In her last game, Farrell tallied one rebound for 94 this season. With 506, she is 49 away from the second place spot with 555 by Zebber Satcher.

FOREST TAKES OVER TOP SPOT
Senior Leslie Forest is now Centenary's all-time leader in blocks with 84 all time. In seven games this season, Forest has tallied eight blocks.

SCOUTING SOUTH DAKOTA STATE
South Dakota State enters the contest with a 6-6 overall record and a 2-0 stint in league play. The Jackrabbits are coming off a 71-58 win against Northern Iowa on Dec. 28. Prior to that game, SDSU dropped two contests to Iowa (69-82) and Utah (58-62). In league play, the Jackrabbits have defeated Western Illinois (74-53) and IUPUI (85-77).

As a team, SDSU is tallying an average of 76.8 ppg and pulling down 35.6 rpg. Maria Boever is pacing the Jackrabbits with 13.4 ppg and 6.8 rpg, while Kristin Rotert adds 13.0 ppg.

SERIES VS SOUTH DAKOTA STATE
Saturday will mark the fifth time these two teams have met since SDSU joined the league. The Jackrabbits own a 4-0 record over the Ladies, having taken both games last season over Centenary. The last meeting between the two teams came on February 28 when SDSU defeated the Ladies 97-52 in the Gold Dome. Joseph led all Centenary returnees with seven points.

SCOUTING NORTH DAKOTA STATE
North Dakota State brings in a 7-5 overall record and a 2-0 tilt in The Summit League. The Bison are looking for their third straight win after taking wins over Northern State (64-56) and Northern Arizona (66-56). In league play, NDSU has two wins over IUPUI (69-55) and Western Illinois (57-31).

As a team, NSDU is averaging 60.0 points per game and 34.3 rebounds a contest. Inger Hodgson leads the Bison with 11.9 ppg, while teammate Katie Birkel has a team-high 4.7 rebounds a game.

SERIES VS NORTH DAKOTA STATE
Centenary and North Dakota State will play for the fifth time in history on Monday. The Bison own the series at 4-0 over the Ladies and won both contests last season. The most recent meeting between the two teams came on March 2 in a 52-56 loss by Centenary.

Centenary will return home after playing in the Dakotas to host Oakland on Saturday, Jan. 9 at 5:00 pm in the Gold Dome, followed by a Monday contest at 7:00 pm against IPFW.
