PREVIEW: Ladies Set to Host Oakland, IPFW

The Centenary women's basketball team will host IPFW on Monday against at 7:00 pm in the Gold Dome.

LAST TIME OUT
SHREVEPORT-The Centenary women's basketball team faced a tough Oakland Golden Grizzlies squad on Saturday evening, falling 75-32 in Summit League action. The Ladies (1-15, 0-5 Summit) couldn't overcome a strong offensive night by the Golden Grizzlies, falling in their fifth straight league contest.

OFFENSIVE HIGHLIGHTS
Offensively, the Ladies average 45.9 points per game, while allowing 75.0 ppg. Centenary is shooting just .326 (250-766) from the floor and dishing off 9.2 assists. The key struggle for the Ladies is their 26.8 turnovers a game. Through 16 games, junior Ashley Jackson is the only Centenary player scoring in double-figures with 10.1 per game. Senior Bethany Joseph is adding 9.0 ppg, while junior Anne Farrell adds 8.1 ppg.

DEFENSIVE HIGHLIGHTS
Defensively, Centenary averages 6.1 steals per game and pulls down 32.1 rebounds a contest. The Ladies have also tallied 48 blocks this season led by Jackson with 24. Farrell paces Centenary with a team-high 6.8 rpg, while Jackson contributes with 6.4 rpg and has a team-best 23 steals through 16 games.

SHOOTING SLUMPS
The Ladies struggled offensively on Saturday against Oakland. Recording only eight points in the first half proved to the worst opening 20 minutes of the year behind the nine points against LSU earlier this season. Centenary shot just 27 percent (10-of-37) from the floor and made just two-of-12 from behind the arc.

NEED A WIN AT HOME
Centenary is still in search of its first win of the season at home in the Gold Dome. The Ladies are 0-6 in front of a home crowd this season.

FARRELL ON BOARD AT 500
Farrell is working her way up the record books each game. The junior center has broken into the top three all-time. In her last game, Farrell tallied two rebounds for 108 this season. With 520, she is 35 away from the second place spot with 555 by Zebber Satcher.

FOREST TAKES OVER TOP SPOT
Senior Leslie Forest is now Centenary's all-time leader in blocks with 84 all time. In eight games this season, Forest has tallied eight blocks.

SCOUTING IPFW
IPFW enters Monday's contest with a 6-8 record and a perfect 4-0 in league play. The Mastodons are riding a three-game win streak, all against league opponents. Their most recent win came at Oral Roberts on Saturday in a 74-72 victory.

As a team, IPFW is offensively strong, averaging 64.8 ppg and pulls down nearly 35 rebounds a game. Three players average in double-figures, led by Stephanie Rosado with 14.6 ppg and 7.2 rpg. Anne Boese adds 11.4 ppg, while teammate Jordan Zuppe chips in with 10.1 ppg.

SERIES VS IPFW
Centenary and IPFW have played six times since the 2002-03 season. The Mastodons own the series, 5-1 over the Ladies after splitting the two games last season. The Ladies took Game 1, 73-51 before dropping Game 2, 57-65 back on Feb. 9, 2009.
