PREVIEW: Ladies On Road at Western Illinois

LAST TIME OUT
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.- Looking for its first league win of the season, the Centenary women's basketball team was held to a low shooting afternoon, falling 61-35 at IUPUI on Saturday in Summit League action. The Ladies (1-17, 0-7 Summit) never regained a lead after the first few minutes of the contest, allowing the Jaguars (2-15, 1-5 Summit) to win its first league game of the season.

OFFENSIVE HIGHLIGHTS
Offensively, the Ladies average 45.3 points per game, while allowing 74.3 ppg. Centenary is shooting just .323 (276-854) from the floor and dishing off 8.9 assists. The key struggle for the Ladies is their 26.7 turnovers a game. Through 18 games, junior Ashley Jackson is the only player scoring in double figures with 10.4 ppg. Senior Bethany Joseph adds 8.4 ppg, while junior Anne Farrell chips in with 7.7 ppg respectively.

DEFENSIVE HIGHLIGHTS
Defensively, Centenary averages 6.2 steals per game and pulls down 32.0 rebounds a contest. The Ladies have also tallied 52 blocks this season led by Jackson with 26. Farrell paces Centenary with a team-high 6.7 rpg, while Jackson contributes with 6.3 rpg and has a team-best 26 steals through 18 games.

IN NEED OF ONE
The Ladies are still looking for their first league win this season. With only one win to their name, the positive is that the victory came on the road back on Dec. 19 at McNeese.

A DIFFERENT LOOK
All but one Centenary player has started a game this season. Four players (Jackson, Joseph, Farrell, Daniel) have started more than half the contest, but the fifth starter has continued to change throughout the season.

FARRELL ON BOARD AT 500
Farrell is working her way up the record books each game. The junior center has broken into the top three all-time. In her last game, Farrell tallied five rebounds for 120 this season. With 532, she is 23 away from the second place spot with 555 by Zebber Satcher.

FOREST TAKES OVER TOP SPOT
Senior Leslie Forest is now Centenary's all-time leader in blocks with 84 all time. In nine games this season, Forest has tallied eight blocks.

SCOUTING WESTERN ILLINOIS
Western Illinois holds a 5-12 record and a 1-5 stint in league play. The Fighting Leathernecks are looking for their second league win after dropping an 82-57 contest against Oral Roberts on Saturday. Western Illinois' only league win came against IUPUI (52-44) last week.

As a team, the Fighting Leathernecks average 46.4 ppg and pull down 33.2 rebounds a contest. Erica Lewis paces Western Illinois with 9.4 ppg, while Jordon O'Brien chips in with 9.1 ppg. Ashley Lord holds a team-best 6.8 rpg.

SERIES VS WESTERN ILLINOIS
Centenary and Western Illinois have met 12 times in history and the Fighting Leathernecks hold a commanding 12-0 record over the Ladies during that time. Centenary dropped both contests to Western Illinois last season with the most recent one coming in a 73-60 loss at home on February 14, 2009. In that game, Farrell produced a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds.
