PREVIEW: Gymnastics Set to Host SEMO and 'Club Gym Night'
Wednesday, February 3, 2010

SHREVEPORT-The Centenary women's gymnastics team will return to action this Friday when it hosts Southeast Missouri at 7:00 pm in the Gold Dome. Doors will open at 6:00 pm.

Friday's Meet will also serve as "Club Gym" Night. Any USAG Member with a card or with a club gym t-shirt on will be admitted into the Gold Dome for just 10 cents.

Centenary gymnastics continues to build a strong relationship in the community as they have been actively involved in various activities including MLK Service Day most recently. This "promotion" initiative strives to bring members of the community into the Gold Dome for a fun-filled night of Ladies gymnastics.

The Ladies are coming off of two strong weekend performances against Texas Woman's University despite falling in both contests.

Leading the Ladies on the All-Around is junior Marissa Schneider (37.450), (37.775), while freshman Jessica Lieblich (35.925) made her mark in all four events two weekends ago.

Senior Whitney Daugherty has continued to pace Centenary on the Floor with team-best scores of 9.800 and 9.750 in the first two meets for a second-place tie and third place finish.

Junior Maille Vetros and redshirt sophomore Tara Sandoval have led the Ladies on the Beam with a 9.375 and 9.675 for top-three honors, while junior Makensie Lant and Sandoval performed best on the Bars with scores of 9.625 and 9.650 respectively.

On Vault, freshmen Christine Martinez and Amanda Holt lead the way with meet scores of 9.500 and 9.700 as Holt placed third in her first collegiate meet.

As a team, the Ladies are being outscored by their opponents by a mere 10.625 after two competitions.

This will mark the second home meet for Centenary as it will host two more following Friday night. As always, the Ladies will be performing the Cupid Shuffle after their competition and hopes fans will join them on the Floor Mat for the post-meet dance.

Centenary will remain home to host Missouri at 7:00 pm on Friday, February 12 in the Gold Dome.
