PREVIEW: Ladies Face IUPUI in Final Home Game

The Centenary women's basketball team will play its final home game of the season against IUPUI on Monday at 7:00 pm in the Gold Dome.

LAST TIME OUT
SHREVEPORT-Senior Bethany Joseph hit five treys and scored a game-best 17 points for the Centenary women's basketball team, but it wasn't enough as the Ladies fell to Western Illinois 61-50 on Saturday evening in Summit League play. The Ladies (1-24, 0-14) were challenged by a scrappy Fighting Leatherneck team to the end, despite playing extremely hard prior to the honoring of Centenary's four seniors in Joseph, Natasha Draganic, Leslie Forest, and Michaela Berg.

OFFENSIVE HIGHLIGHTS
Offensively, the Ladies average 46.5 points per game, while allowing 74.0 ppg. Centenary is shooting just .331 (392-1183) from the floor and dishing off 9.6 assists. The key struggle for the Ladies is their 25.7 turnovers a game. Through 25 games, junior Ashley Jackson is the only player scoring in double figures with 10.2 ppg. Senior Bethany Joseph adds 8.3 ppg, while junior Anne Farrell chips in with 7.5 ppg respectively.

DEFENSIVE HIGHLIGHTS
Defensively, Centenary averages 6.2 steals per game and pulls down 31.7 rebounds a contest. The Ladies have also tallied 77 blocks this season led by Jackson with 31. Farrell paces Centenary with a team-high 6.4 rpg, while Jackson contributes with 5.8 rpg and has a team-best 33 steals through 25 games.

WHAT SHE DOES BEST
Senior Bethany Joseph continued to add to her sharp shooting with a 5-10 effort from the floor against Western Illinois on Saturday. The New Iberia, La. native, sank five treys for 17 points. She leads the team with 46 three-pointers made this season and a 37 percent shooting performance from deep. She also tallied two made free throws to put her at an astounding 96 percent from the free throw line (22-23).

STILL SEARCHING
The Ladies are still searching for its first league win of the season. With an 0-14 mark among league opponents, Centenary will play four more league games, one of which will be at home in the Gold Dome.

AT HOME FOR FINAL ONE
Centenary will play its final home game against IUPUI. The Ladies still haven't recorded a win in the Gold Dome this season, though playing their best game in a six-point loss (67-61) to North Dakota State on Jan. 30.

FARRELL ON BOARD AT 500
Farrell is working her way up the record books each game. The junior center has broken into the top three all-time. Farrell has tallied 135 blocks this season. With 547, she is 8 away from the second place spot with 555 by Zebber Satcher.

FOREST TAKES OVER TOP SPOT; NEEDS 1 FOR 100!
Senior Leslie Forest is now Centenary's all-time leader in blocks with 99 all time. In 15 games this season, Forest has tallied 23 blocks. She had a season-high seven blocks against Oakland on Feb. 8.

SCOUTING IUPUI
IUPUI is looking to snap a seven-game losing skid when it faces Centenary on Monday. The Jaguars are 2-22 overall and 1-12 in league play. Their last win came against the Ladies on Jan. 16 earlier this season. IUPUI most recently dropped a 114-43 contest to Oral Roberts on Saturday.

As a team, the Jaguars are averaging 50.9 ppg and pulling down 35.1 rpg. They are led by Kerah Nelson with 13.2 ppg and a team-best 5.3 boards, while Jessica Huffman adds 10.2 ppg.

SERIES VS IUPUI
IUPUI will take on Centenary in its 14th contest since the 2004 season. The Jaguars own a perfect 13-0 record over the Ladies during that time and have already secured win one of the series earlier this season in a 35-61 victory in Indianapolis, Ind. on Jan. 16. Centenary didn't shoot well as Joseph finished with a team-best six points, while IUPUI's Kerah Nelson led all scorers with 17points and 10 boards.
