Tennis Falls Short Against TAMCC

SHREVEPORT-The Centenary men's and women's tennis teams continued to improve in its dual match against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Thursday. The Gents fell 5-1 to the Islanders, while the Ladies dropped their contest 6-0.

Centenary received strong play on both sides as Isadora Bickham competed against a very solid Mirna Cicak. Bickham fell down 6-0, but battled in her final set, only to come up shy, 7-6.

Also competing for the Ladies (1-1) was Holden Penney and Catlin Orschel, who both fell 6-0, 6-0 despite improving throughout the match. Alexis Smith of Centenary dropped her match by default.

The Gents (0-3) picked up their only win when Micah Threadgill won by default. Though, Matt Shoptaugh battled Alex Pavlov of TAMCC to a 6-4, 6-1 match, but came up short. Also representing Centenary was Sam Grace (6-2, 6-3), Michael Reeks (6-2, 6-0), Jacob Dawson (6-2, 6-1) and Evan Magill (6-1, 6-2), all of which dropped their matches.

Centenary will host Grambling State on Wednesday, February 23 at 3:00 pm.
