Success Happens on Day 1 of Swimming Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.-Several lifetime bests were recorded on Day 1 of the Summit League Championships for the Centenary men's and women's swimming teams as the Gents are in second place with 185 points behind Oakland with 197, while the Ladies are in sixth after 12 events with 105 points behind Oakland's 274 points.

After successful preliminaries, several Ladies and Gents found themselves among the top finishers in the event finals on Thursday.

The men's relay team of Peter Henry, Caleb McSorley, Thomas Schwertz, and Devin Ross secured a first place finish in the 200 Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:21.79.

Relay team of Henry, Ryne Smith, Ross and McSorley placed second in the 400 yard Medley Relay with a 3:25.55 time.

Also finishing in the top three in their respective events were McSorley in second in the 50 Freestyle with a time of 20.77, while teammate Ross took third in the same event with a 20.86 time.

Henry led Centenary in the 200 yard IM with a fifth place finish and a time of 1:53.61, while Matthew Pittman finished seventh in the 500 yard Freestyle after a 4:34.10 time.

On the women's side, Laura Huning was the Ladies top finisher with a seventh place finish on the 50 yard Free with a 24.60. Also in the top 10 for the Ladies was Madi Wyatt in the 200 yard IM with a 2:10.57.

Relay team of M. Wyatt, Leslie Wyatt, Jessica Brown and Huning captured fourth place in the 400 yard Medley Relay in a time of 3:55.56.
