Gents in 14th After Two Rounds

AVONDALE, La.-After two rounds at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Mardi Gras Invitational hosted by University of New Orleans, the Centenary men's golf team is in 14th place with a score of 625.

The Gents opened the day with a 311, before adding three strokes in the final round to finish Day 1 with a 314.

Junior Greg Berthelot (80-72) leads Centenary after two rounds with a 152 and in a tie for 40th place. He is just 14 strokes behind tournament leader, Alex Ching of San Diego, with (64-74) a 138.

Senior Mark Weeber (79-75, 154) cut four shots off his first round score and is tied for 46th, while junior Cannon Earp (73-84, 157) started the day strong, but added 11 shots to finish Day 1 in 59th place.

Rounding out the lineup for Centenary is senior Nick Faitz (79-83, 162) in a tie for 68th and senior Tyler Williams (87-90, 177) in 77th place.

North Carolina State (286-289, 575) is in first, while San Diego (290-287, 577) and UNO (287-291, 578) round out the top three.

Centenary will resume play at 8:30 am on Tuesday with one final round.
