Gents Have Solid Final Round, Finish 13th

AVONDALE, La.-The Centenary men's golf team wrapped up the Allstate Sugar Bowl Mardi Gras Invitational hosted by the University of New Orleans on Tuesday with a team score of (311-314-307) 932, cutting seven strokes off their second-round score for a 13th place finish.

The Gents finished 68 shots behind tournament winner, San Diego (290-287-293, 870).

Senior Mark Weeber (79-75-74) was Centenary's top individual finisher in a tie for 33rd with a 228 after producing a five-over par for the day.

Junior Greg Berthelot (80-72-77) was just one stroke shy of teammate Weeber with a 229, finishing in a tie for 37th. Classmate Cannon Earp (73-84-78) tied for 55th with a three-round score of 335, while seniors Nick Faitz (79-83-87, 249) and Tyler Williams (87-90-78, 255) rounded out the Gents in 75th and 76th place, respectively.

Behind San Diego in team scores was North Carolina State (286-289-298, 873) in second despite adding 12 strokes to their opening round total. Finishing in third was UNO (287-291-300, 878).

Individually, Alex Ching of San Diego (64-74-69) maintained first with a six-shot lead and a total score of 207.

Centenary will resume play on March 15-16 at Louisiana Tech's Squire Creek Invitational.
