PREVIEW: Ladies Play Final Game

LAST TIME OUT
CEDAR CITY, Utah-The Centenary women's basketball team had four players reach double-figures despite suffering a tough 74-64 road loss on Saturday evening in Summit League action.

 

 

The Ladies (2-26, 1-16) were led offensively by junior Ashley Jackson with 12 points. Seniors Leslie Forest and Bethany Joseph along with junior Anne Farrell each chipped in with 10 points.

OFFENSIVE HIGHLIGHTS
Offensively, the Ladies average 47.5 points per game, while allowing 74.1 ppg. Centenary is shooting .339 (451-1332) from the floor and dishing off 9.8 assists. The key struggle for the Ladies is their 26.0 turnovers a game. Through 28 games, junior Ashley Jackson is the only player scoring in double figures with 10.4 ppg. Senior Bethany Joseph adds 8.7 ppg, while junior Anne Farrell chips in with 7.6 ppg respectively.

DEFENSIVE HIGHLIGHTS
Defensively, Centenary averages 6.4 steals per game and pulls down 32.0 rebounds a contest. The Ladies have also tallied 88 blocks this season led by Jackson with 34. Farrell paces Centenary with a team-high 6.2 rpg, while Jackson contributes with 5.8 rpg and has a team-best 40 steals through 28 games.

ENDING ON A GOOD NOTE
Centenary ended its home slate with a 10-point (67-57) win over IUPUI for its first home win of the season. The victory was also the first Summit League win for the Ladies this season. Centenary also shot a season-best 51.2 percent (22-43) from the floor and 55.6 percent (5-9) from behind the arc.

JOSEPH'S TREYS EARN HER TOP SPOT
Senior Bethany Joseph again, proved to be one of the best three-point shooters to ever play at Centenary. With her five treys made in the game vs Western Illinois on 2-13, Joseph secured the top spot all-time in 3-Point Field Goals Made by any Ladies player. She has accumulated 174 three-pointers made in her four-year career.

FARRELL ON BOARD AT 500
Farrell is working her way up the record books each game. The junior center has broken into the top three all-time in rebounding. With 555, she is now tied with Zebber Satcher for second place all-time.

FOREST EARNS 100TH BLOCK!
Senior Leslie Forest reached the 100-block mark on Monday, Feb. 15 against IUPUI with one swipe. Forest has tallied a 27 blocks this season and a season-best seven blocks against Oakland on Feb. 8.

SCOUTING UMKC
UMKC will enter the last regular season game with a 14-14 overall record and an 11-6 mark in league play. The Kangaroos are coming off a 93-79 loss vs Oral Roberts on Saturday after riding a three-game win streak prior to that.

UMKC is led offensively by Chazny Morris with 15.8 ppg. Kim Nezianya pulls down a team-best 5.3 boards a contest. As a team, the Kangaroos are averaging 64.1 ppg and swiping 36.5 rebounds a contest.

SERIES VS UMKC
Centenary and UMKC will have its 14th meeting on Monday as the Kangaroos are 12-1 against the Ladies all-time. They last met on Dec. 5 in an 81-66 loss by Centenary. In that game, UMKC's LeAndrea Thomas led all scorers with 18 points, while Ashley Jackson and Quintesa Gould led Centenary with 14.
