Gents Tennis Earns First Win, Ladies Fall to Louisiana College

SHREVEPORT-The Centenary tennis teams split the match with Louisiana College on Saturday. The Gents took blanked the Wildcats, 7-0, while the Ladies fell 5-2.

On the men's side, Matt Shoptaugh (6-1, 6-0), Evan Magill (6-0, 6-1), Sam Grace (6-0, 6-0)  and Jacob Dawson (6-0, 6-0) each won their singles matches, while Micah Threadgill and John Reeks each won by default.

In doubles action, Grace and Threadgill took care of their opponents with an 8-0 score, while Magill and Shoptaugh won 8-1. By default, Dawson and Reeks finished with a win.

On the women's side, Isadora Bickham (6-0, 6-1) and Holden Penney (6-0, 6-1) each won their singles matches, while Caitlin Orschel (6-1, 6-0) and Alexis Smith (6-0, 6-0) took losses for Centenary. Louisiana College was able to pick up two more wins by default.

In doubles play, Bickham and Penney combined to defeat the Wildcats, 8-2 as Orschel and Smith fell 8-3.

The Gents will return to play this Friday when they host UT-Tyler at 3:00 pm.
