KANSAS CITY, Mo.-The Centenary women's basketball team battled a solid UMKC team to an 80-54 loss on Monday night in its final game of the 2009-10 season.

The Ladies (2-28, 1-17 Summit) were led offensively by senior Bethany Joseph and junior Ashley Jackson with 14 points apiece, while freshman Megan Daniel added nine.

Joseph drained a three to tie the game at 5-5 after UMKC took the initial lead early in the game.

Though, the Kangaroos would respond on the made basket with an 8-2 run to maintain the lead. Down 17-10, Joseph was able to find the bottom of the net from deep once again to make it a five-point game.

Midway through the first half, Daniel would contribute to the long range shooting, sinking a three of her own, but UMKC would stay consistent on the offensive end, going up by 11 (39-28) at halftime.

UMKC opened the second half with a quick five points to take a 44-28 lead. Daniel was able to settle the potential threat when she drained another trey.

The Kangaroos began to extend their lead on a 6-0 run until Joseph and freshman Stephanie Barrow hit back-to-back jumpers.

Jackson scored four points, following another run (11-2) by UMKC, while Joseph four-of-four from the charity stripe to finish her collegiate career as one of Centenary's all-time top shooters.
