Gents Tennis Falls in Opening Match

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.-The Centenary men's tennis team opened the Summit League cluster on Friday, falling to Western Illinois 4-0 in Indianapolis, Ind.

In singles action, Matt Shoptaugh was defeated 6-1, 6-1, while Centenary's No. 2 Evan Magill fell 6-0, 6-2. Sam Grace dropped his match, 6-1, 6-2 and Michael Reeks was led 3-0.

For Centenary in doubles play, Shoptaugh and Magill battled, but fell 8-3. Jacob Dawson and Micah Threadgill also were defeated 7-2, while Grace and Reeks were outplayed 8-1.

Centenary will continue play on Saturday on Saturday against Oral Roberts at 1:00 pm before taking on South Dakota State on Sunday at 9:00 am.
