Tennis Falls in Close Match to ORU

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.-The Centenary men's tennis team had several strong performances, despite dropping its Saturday match to Oral Roberts, 5-2 in the weekend Summit League cluster.

In singles action, Jacob Dawson took a win in three sets, 6-3, 7-6 and 7-4, while Micah Threadgill earned a win with scores of 6-1 and 6-4.

Matt Shoptaugh played a strong match with sets of 6-2, 5-7 and 10-7, but was defeated. Evan Magill (6-0, 6-2), Sam Grace (6-4, 6-2) and Michael Reeks (6-2, 6-0) also fell in their singles match.

Grace and Reeks garnered an 8-0 win in doubles play, while Magill/Shoptaugh fell 8-5 and Dawson/Threadgill were defeated 8-2.

Centenary will wrap up the weekend cluster on Sunday at 9:00 am against South Dakota State.
