ST. GEORGE, Utah-Sophomore Kalyn Harris belted a three-run home run in the fourth inning, but it wasn't enough as the Centenary softball team dropped the final game of the weekend series to Southern Utah, 12-3, in five innings in Summit League play.

The Ladies fell to 9-21 overall and 3-9 in league play with the loss.

Centenary put up just five hits on the contest led by Harris (1x2, R, 3 RBI) with three RBI, while junior Caitlin Cavarra (1x3), senior Allison Shepperd (1x2), freshman Rachel Conard (1x3, R) and junior Sara Dornelas (1x2) each had a hit.

Dornelas (2.1,11,7,7,0,2) took the loss on the mound after tossing 2.1 innings, allowing seven runs on 11 hits with two strikeouts. With the loss, the righty fell to 8-14 on the season.

Centenary saw itself down 8-0 after the third frame when the T-Birds connected on 11 hits and took advantage of one Ladies error.

Centenary would then respond to the Southern Utah-four-run third inning, making it a five-run game, 8-3, in the top of the fourth with three runs and four of its five hits.

Shepperd and Conard would open the frame with back-to-back singles, allowing Harris to plate three with her second home run of the season.

Despite a solid effort of coming back from the early deficit, Southern Utah would add four more runs in the bottom of the fourth on four hits and two errors to go ahead 12-3 and complete the game in five innings.

Also seeing action on the mound for Centenary was junior Lauren Highsmith (1.2,4,5,2,4,0) who tossed the final 1.2 innings, allowing two earned runs on four hits.

Centenary will return home to host Central Arkansas at 5:30 pm on Wednesday.
