Gents in Ninth After Day 1 of League Championships

ST. GEORGE, Utah-The Centenary men's golf team wrapped up Day 1 of the Summit League Championships with a team total of 623 and is in ninth place after two rounds at Entrada at Snow Canyon Country Club in St. George, Utah.

The Gents are just one shot behind North Dakota State and Oakland in a tie for seventh as they trimmed a stroke off their opening round of play to finish with a 311 after a first round score of 312.

Centenary is led by sophomore Denver Green's (78-76) two-round total of 154 for a tie for 18th place. Junior teammate Greg Berthelot (76-79) is one shot back with a 155 and is sitting in a tie for 22nd overall.

Senior Nick Faitz (79-77) shot a 156 and is tied for 27th, while classmate Mark Weeber (79-79, 158) and junior Cannon Earp (85-86, 171) are tied for 32nd and in 49th place, respectively heading into the second day.

Leading the way is Western Illinois (293-296, 589) in first, UMKC (291-300, 591) in second and Oral Roberts (298-294, 592) in third.

Korbin Kuehn (69-74, 143) of UMKC and David Holtgrewe (71-72, 143) of ORU pace the individual race.

Centenary will wrap up the Championships on Tuesday with one final round.
