PREVIEW: Ladies at South Dakota State

SHREVEPORT-Looking to rekindle the winning ways, the Centenary softball team will travel to South Dakota State for a three-game series with the Jackrabbits beginning on Friday with a double-header slated at 3:00 pm followed by a single game on Saturday at Noon.

The Ladies are 9-29 overall and 3-14 in league play this season and are hoping to snap a 10-game losing skid when they face the Jackrabbits.

Centenary will meet South Dakota State after its mid-week double-header with LSU-Alexandria was cancelled on Tuesday.

On the season, Sara Dornelas paces the offense with a .277 average. Senior Allison Shepperd is hitting .247 with a team-best 10 doubles, while sophomore Kalyn Harris has driven in 21 runs with a .220 average.

Dornelas is 8-20 with a 4.12 ERA to lead Centenary on the rubber, while junior Lauren Highsmith has garnered the other win, holding a 6.94 ERA.

South Dakota State is 15-29 overall and 7-8 in the Summit League entering the weekend series.

Ashley Durazo paces the offense with a .356 average and a team-best 52 hits. Devon Reick with a .328 clip.

On the mound, the Jackrabbits are led by Kori Seidlitz's 4.43 ERA and 12-16 record, while Pam Nicholson is 3-13 with a 5.47 ERA.

Centenary and South Dakota State will meet for the seventh time in history as the Ladies own a 4-2 edge over the Jackrabbits as they picked up a series sweep last season.

Following the series, Centenary will return home to play its final home games of the season against league foe, IUPUI.
