BROOKINGS, S.D.-The Centenary softball team struggled to find a way to snap its 12-game losing skid, falling for the 13th time in as many tries, 10-7, to South Dakota State on Saturday afternoon in the Summit League series finale.

The Ladies spotted the Jackrabbits six runs in the first inning and tied the game back up in the second, but wasn't able to pull off the win, falling to 9-32 overall and 3-17 in league play.

Centenary put up 11 hits including three doubles and a home run, but South Dakota State was better with 12 knocks.

Freshman Kelsey Regan led at the plate, hitting 2x3 with a solo home run, while sophomore Katie Matthews (2x4, R, RBI) and junior Sara Dornelas (2x4, R) each had two hits.

Also picking up a hit were juniors Bonnie Matak (1x3, R, RBI), Caitlin Cavarra (1x3, R, RBI), seniors Allison Shepperd (1x4, 2 RBI), Beth Krysiak (1x1) and sophomore Kalyn Harris (1x4).

Sophomore Reggie Salvatore (3.1,8,5,5,1,2) pitched in relief, tossing 3.1 innings and suffered the loss. The righty gave up five runs on eight hits with two strikeouts.

Junior Lauren Highsmith (0.0,0,3,3,2,0) allowed three runs with two walks and a hit batsmen as Centenary's starter, but left with a no-decision. Dornelas (2.2,4,2,1,1,3) tossed the final 2.2 innings, surrendering one earned run on four hits.

South Dakota State plated six runs in the first inning after Highsmith allowed the first three batters to reach base on two walks and a hit-by-pitch. The Jackrabbits would then go on to connect on three hits to go up 6-0.

The Ladies would respond in impressive fashion tying the game at 6-6 on five hits.

After allowing another lead off walk in the second frame, Centenary paid as South Dakota State doubled to plate another run. The Jackrabbits would then go on to take a 10-6 lead on six hits and an error over the fourth and fifth frames.

With two outs, Regan would homer to give the Ladies a late run in the top of the sixth, but it wasn't enough for the win.

Centenary will return home to play its final games of the season as it hosts IUPUI on Friday in a double-header beginning at 4:00 pm.
