PREVIEW: Softball Wraps Up Season with Home Series

SHREVEPORT-The Centenary softball team will wrap up its season this weekend with a three-game home series against Summit League foe, IUPUI, beginning with a double-header on Friday at 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm and a single on Saturday at 2:00 pm.

The Ladies enter the weekend series with an overall record of 9-32 and 3-17 in league play, having dropped their last 13 games.

Prior to Saturday's finale, Centenary will honor its current graduate student, Courtney Avery and two seniors, Allison Shepperd and Beth Krysiak during a pre-game ceremony.

Offensively, Centenary is led by junior Sara Dornelas with a .284 clip and a team-best 29 hits. Shepperd follows with a .257 average and a team-high 11 doubles. Sophomore Kalyn Harris holds a .238 average and leads the team with 27 RBI.

Dornelas paces the Ladies on the mound with an 8-20 record and a 4.36 ERA. Junior Lauren Highsmith has picked up the only other win on the season with a 1-4 record and 7.49 ERA.

IUPUI will play the Ladies after compiling a 14-36 overall record and a 9-12 mark in the Summit League. The Jaguars are 6-23 on the road this season and are looking to snap a 3-0 loss to IPFW in their last contest.

Leah Prewitt is hitting .279 to lead IUPUI at the plate, while Amy Raker is batting .271.

Raker also holds the team's best ERA at 3.73 and has managed a 4-4 record this season.

Centenary owns the all-time record over IUPUI, 12-2, having swept the Jaguars in three games last season.

This weekend series will mark the final 2010 games for the Ladies as they did not qualify for The Summit League tournament next week.
