PREVIEW: Gymnastics Tours Alaska for Final Two Meets

SHREVEPORT-The Centenary gymnastics team will gear up for its final two regular season meets when it tours Alaska this weekend. The Ladies are set to compete in two dual meets against the University of Alaska on Friday at 10 pm CT and Sunday at 5 pm CT in Anchorage, Alaska.

The Ladies are coming off their highest team score of the season and under second year head coach Gretchen Goerlitz, when they posted a 191.825 against SEMO last weekend.

Centenary has remained consistent over the last four meets, posting at least a 190.000+ score in each of them.

Centenary is 4-11 on the season and has captured all four wins in the last five competitions.

Leading the way for the Ladies is sophomore Jessica Lieblich with an All-Around total of 38.875. She is followed by senior Marisa Schneider's 38.600.

As event specialists, sophomore Meg Crowley paces the team on Vault with a 9.825. Schneider leads the team on Bars with a 9.663, on Beam with a 9.338 and on the Floor with a 9.605.

Centenary and Alaska met back in 2009 when the Ladies swept both dual meets to open the season in Anchorage.


ON TV: Both meets will be televised tape-delayed on KCFT Ch. 35(GCI cable Ch. 19) ... Friday's meet will air at 2 am CT that morning and again at 3 pm CT on Saturday ... Sunday's meet will air at 2 am CT that night and again at 3 pm on Monday.

Following its tour to Alaska, the Ladies will travel back to Cape Girardeau, Missouri to take part in the Midwest Independent Conference meet hosted by SEMO on Saturday, March 19 at 2 pm.
