Ladies Edged by UAA in Final Event

ANCHORAGE, Alaska-Senior Marisa Schneider and sophomore Jessica Lieblich each captured a first place victory, but a solid Floor exercise to close out the meet by the University of Alaska at Anchorage propelled the Seawolves to a 191.475 to 190.375 win over the Ladies on Friday evening.

The Ladies led the dual meet up until the final event of the evening. UAA was able to close out with a solid Floor exercise to edge Centenary, dropping it to a 4-12 record on the season

Schneider paced the Ladies with an impressive showing on the Floor exercise with a 9.800. Lieblich's 9.700 on the Beam gave way to another top honor for Centenary.

Leading the way on the Vault for the Ladies was sophomore Christy Martinez with a 9.700, which placed her in a tie for second overall. On the Bars, Lieblich and senior Makensie Lant each scored a 9.675 to tie for third.

As a team, Centenary was strongest on Vault with a 48.075 score. Behind Martinez' 9.700 was sophomore Brittany Adams' 9.650.  The Ladies scored a combined 47.825 on Floor. Following Schneider in scoring was freshman Tawnee Hadd and junior Melody Smith with a 9.675.

The Bars was third best for the squad as they combined for a 47.675. Behind Lant and Lieblich was junior Stephanie Wright with a 9.600. And rounding out the team scores was the Beam team with a 46.800. Lieblich's strong showing was followed by Hadd's 9.450.

Lieblich and Schneider were the only two All-Around performers in the competition. Lieblich's four-event total of 38.100 edged teammate Schneider's 36.925.

Centenary will compete in its final regular season meet on Sunday against UAA. Start time is set for 4 pm CT. Live event coverage is free of charge at
