PREVIEW: Gents Golf Set for LSU National Invitational

SHREVEPORT-The Centenary men's golf team will gear up and go against a competitive field at the LSU National Invitational on Saturday and Sunday in Baton Rouge, La.

The Gents are one of 12 participating teams and will face off against five Golfstat National ranked schools, including LSU (9), Iowa (12), Notre Dame (37), Michigan (45), Chattanooga (46).

Also competing are Boston College, Iowa State, Louisiana-Lafayette, Minnesota, Penn State, and Virginia Commonwealth.

Centenary will take on the Par-72, University Club, which runs 7,440 yards in distance.

Round 1 will begin on Saturday with a shotgun start beginning at 8:30 am, followed by Round 2 shortly after the conclusion of the opening round. The final round will be played on Sunday with tee times assigned on holes No. 1 and No. 10.


Centenary will feature the same five players as were featured at the Hal Sutton Intercollegiate, led by No. 1 player, Greg Berthelot, who is coming off a first-place victory in the Gents' host tournament. The Baton Rouge, La. Native returns home this weekend after firing a solid 3-under par and a final round of 67 to capture the individual champion title.

Also seeing action will be seniors Ryan Sparks, Cannon Earp, sophomore Jay Frazier and junior Kyle Mehnert.
