Gents Win; Ladies Fall at LeTourneau

LONGVIEW, Texas-The Centenary tennis teams took on future ASC opponent on Saturday as the Gents recorded a 7-2 win, while the Ladies fell 8-1 in non-conference action.

The Gents earned their third win of the season and improved to 3-5 overall.

Centenary won all seven singles matches as Jonathan Threadgill won his first singles match of the year with a 7-5, 6-3 victory as the Gents No. 1 player. Also earning victories were Micah Threadgill (6-2, 6-3), Garrett Whipple (6-2, 6-0), Sam Grace (6-1, 6-0), Michael Reeks (6-4, 6-2), and Evan Magill (6-0, 6-3).

In doubles play, the Threadgill brothers were edged 9-8 and Magill/Whipple fell 8-3. However, Grace/Reeks came out strong and won 8-1.

The Ladies were defeated 8-1 and fell to 1-12 on the season.

Centenary was short-handed during the match, only competing with four players.

Isadora Bickham earned the Ladies only win on the afternoon, winning 6-3, 6-3 in singles play as the Ladies No. 1 player.

Holden Penney (0-6, 0-6), Michelle Gaubert (2-6, 2-6) each fell, while Catlin Orschel (6-3, 2-6, 0-1) won the first set, but would fall in three.

Bickham/Penney dropped their doubles match, 8-0 and Gaubert/Orschel were defeated 8-6.

LeTourneau earned two singles and one doubles win by default.

The Gents will wrap up their season this weekend in Fort Wayne, Ind. and Indianapolis, Ind. in the final Summit League cluster. The Ladies will return to action and conclude their season in Brookings, SD on April 14-16.
