Individual Finals Concludes Ladies Season

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.-Senior Marisa Schneider, junior Stephanie Wright and sophomore Christy Martinez all represented the Centenary gymnastics team in the individual finals of the USAG Collegiate Nationals on Sunday afternoon at the U.S. Air Force Academy.

By placing amongst the Top 5 in the preliminary competitions on Friday, the three Ladies earned a spot in Sunday's finals. Martinez competed on Vault, Wright on Bars and Schneider on Floor.

Of the 13 competitors on Vault, Martinez tallied a 9.625 to place ninth. Monica Mesallas grabbed top honors with her 9.850 score.

Wright was amongst 10 gymnasts on Bars, as she scored an 8.875 for a 10th place finish. Melanie Jorgensen placed first with a 9.800.

Schneider wrapped up her collegiate career on Floor, scoring a 9.700. Competing with 14 gymnasts, Schneider tied for ninth overall. Mesalles also took top honors with a 9.875.

The Ladies wrapped up the 2011 season in Colorado Springs, Colo. on Friday afternoon. On the season, Centenary earned its best team score at Alaska, tallying a 192.575. Under second year head coach Gretchen Goerlitz, the Ladies' regular season record was 5-12, five wins better than a year ago.
