Gents Golf Places Fifth at LeTourneau Spring Classic; Berthelot, Earp Earn Top 10 Finishes

LONGVIEW, Texas-The Centenary men's golf team fell to fifth place at the LeTourneau Spring Classic after wrapping up two rounds on Tuesday, shooting a combined three-round total of 933.

The Gents were led by senior Greg Berthelot's Top 3 finish as he tied for third place with a 223. Berthelot fired rounds of 76 and 72 on Tuesday to accompany his round of 75 on Monday.

Also receiving a Top 10 finish was senior Cannon Earp, who tied for ninth place, five shots behind Berthelot with a 228 total. Earp shot 76, 77 and 75 over the two-day event.

Senior Ryan Sparks (77-77-81) tied for 18th with a 235, while sophomore Jay Frazier (83-79-85) placed 34th with a 247 and junior Kyle Mehnert (96-86-104, 286) placed 38th.

LeTourneau (302-296-298) captured the team titled with a three-round total of 896, finishing 25 shots better than second-place Mississippi College (310-300-309). Rounding out the Top 3 was Schreiner University (307-301-311, 919).

Individually, LeTourneau's Justin Weant (76-73-69, 218) took first after firing a tournament-best 69 in the final round.

The Gents wrapped up their 2011 regular season schedule and gear up for The Summit League Championships on April 18-19 at Primm Valley Country Club in Primm, Nevada.
