Tuesday, April 26, 2011
SHREVEPORT-Centenary College and head gymnastics coach Gretchen Goerlitz announced today that Natalie Humbert has accepted the institution's offer of admission and will join the Ladies 2011-12 squad.

Humbert is the second new member added to the upcoming season's squad by Goerlitz.

"Natalie has had an interesting year in her gymnastics career with an elbow injury.  I believe this will make her even more passionate and determined as she comes back an even stronger athlete.  We are so pleased she will be joining the Centenary family," said Goerlitz.

A native of Pinellas Park, Florida, Humbert will graduate from Seminole High. Humbert has competed with Lafleur's Gymnastics Club for eight years under the direction of David and Laura Parraga.

She is a Level 10 gymnast and has received numerous accolades, including being named Florida's State Vault champion in 2010 and Regional Vault Champion in 2009. Humbert has also been the State All-Around Champion in 2007, 2008, and 2009.

Humbert competed one year on her high school's diving and track team.

Away from the gym, she will graduate with honors.

Humbert is the daughter of Rick and Lillie Humbert and is the only child.

She plans on majoring in biology at Centenary and has future plans on becoming a physician's assistant or dentist.
