Petska to Join 2011 Volleyball Team

SHREVEPORT-Centenary College and head coach Jon Stenman announced today that Chelsea Petska has accepted the institution's offer of admission and will join the 2011 Centenary volleyball squad this upcoming season.

Petska is the second entering freshman for Stenman and the Ladies.

A Collinsville, Texas native, Petska will graduate from Collinsville High School. She is a 5'7" outside hitter for the Pirates.

Petska earned three letters in volleyball, three in basketball, one in softball and three in track during her four-year high school career. She helped her volleyball team to two State playoff appearances and was honored as the District's Co-Offensive MVP in 2010 and received her team's Hustle Award and was named All-Texomaland Team in 2010.

In basketball, Petska was honored as the Most Improved Player and received District Honorable Mention in 2010 and in softball, Petska was named District Honorable Mention in 2009. She was a two-time Regional Qualifier and a Regional Finalist in 2010.

Petska played club volleyball for Dallas Force and Kahuna 18 Rox for one year each.

Off the volleyball court, Petska was an Academic All-State recipient and Academic All-District recipient. She was an Honor Roll all four years and a National Honor Society member. Petska earned the Wendy's High School Heisman award for her high school and was the Student Council President and Senior Class President.

Petska is the daughter of Jeff and Lisa Petska and has one younger brother, Tanner. She has plans on becoming a certified athletic trainer upon graduation.

"Chelsea is a highly motivated, all-around athlete with endless enthusiasm.   I look forward to watching her compete for playing time in both the front and back rows," said Stenman.
