63 Ladies and Gents Named to Winter/Spring Academic All-League Team

ELMHURST, Ill.-The Summit League has announced its Academic All-League Team for the winter and spring seasons as Centenary placed 63 on the respected list. A total of 1,000 Summit League student-athletes were honored for their academic excellence.

Centenary, in its final semester in The Summit League, had representatives from baseball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's golf, softball, men's and women's swimming, and men's and women's tennis.

South Dakota State led the way with a league-best 148 selections to the Academic All-Summit League squad, edging out Oakland which had 139 recipients. Southern Utah came in fourth with 113 honorees, narrowly ahead of Western Illinois’ 108 student-athletes. UMKC landed 88 members to the honor roll followed by North Dakota State (83 recipients) and Oral Roberts (70 recipients). IPFW (67 honorees), IUPUI (64 honorees) and Centenary (63 honorees) rounded out the list. South Dakota had 34 student-athletes and Eastern Illinois landed 23 recipients as associate swimming & diving members.

In order to be selected to the Academic All-Summit League Team, a student-athlete must have a 3.0 or better grade-point average (GPA) in the semester in which they compete and must use a year of eligibility. In order to be named a Distinguished Scholar, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.60 GPA.
