SHREVEPORT-Centenary College and head men's golf coach Emlyn Aubrey are pleased to announce that local standout Matthew Delaney (Shreveport/Evangel Christian Academy) has accepted the institution's offer of admission to join the Gents golf program this upcoming season.

"I am really excited to add some local talent back into the Gents squad this year. Mathew will be a great addition to get the hometown folks watching us closely again," said Aubrey, who will begin his third season as the leader of the program.

Delaney is a recent graduate of Evangel Christian Academy in Shreveport. He earned letters in golf, basketball, baseball, and soccer for the Eagles, but has chosen to continue his golf career in a Centenary uniform.

Delaney finished his high school career as an All-District and All-State golf performer and was captain of his team all four years. For his efforts, he was honored by his team with the Most Outstanding Player of the Year award after capturing six individual awards.

He helped his Evangel team to the 2A-State Championship, where he placed fourth.

Away from the golf course, Delaney is an honors student named to the Principals List. He is the son of Wendell and Betty Delaney. He looks to pursue a Communication degree at Centenary.

Delaney is the fifth newcomer to join the Gents squad for the 2011-12 season. Centenary returns one in junior Jay Frazier from last season's team.
