Centenary Swimming to Join NSISC Conference

SHREVEPORT-After a successful run in The Summit League, the Centenary swimming program will depart the league and join forces with several powerhouse Division II programs as part of the New South Intercollegiate Swim Conference, beginning this upcoming fall.

Centenary's athletic program is the newest member of the American Southwest Conference, but because the ASC doesn't sponsor swimming, the Ladies and Gents will compete amongst the NSISC.

"We know most of those schools well since we have been competing against them since we have had a team at Centenary," said head coach Butch Jordan.

Centenary will be the only Division III member in the new conference and will compete against a highly competitive group that features all Top 15 programs in Division II.

The Ladies and Gents will join Ouachita Baptist, Henderson State, Drury, Missouri University of Science and Technology (men only), Delta State, and Truman State.

Drury is coming off a Division II National Championship this past year, while Centenary is coming off an impressive performance in its final year of The Summit League as the men placed second and the women fourth.

"What will be nice is that now we will be able to swim most of our conference teams during the season unlike when we were in The Summit League where we were lucky to swim one school during the season and sometimes we didn't see any of the teams until conference meet," said Jordan.

"We are excited about the move and knowing that all teams are capable of winning."
