Justin LeBlanc Named Assistant Men's Basketball Coach
Thursday, July 29, 2010
SHREVEPORT-Centenary head men's basketball coach Adam Walsh announced today the hiring of Justin LeBlanc as his new assistant coach effective immediately.

"Justin is the right fit for us as we transition to the ASC due to his experiences both as a player and as a coach at Millsaps College. It was important to find someone with experience at the DIII level. The fact that Justin is a native of Louisiana intrigued me as well," said Walsh.

LeBlanc, a native of Larose, La., comes to Centenary directly from Millsaps College in Jackson, Miss., where he served as an assistant coach the last four years. His primary duties included the training and development of student-athletes, game preparation and scouting, film exchange, budget management, travel, academic monitoring, directing camps and fundraising.

The Majors produced an overall record of 67-43 in LeBlanc's four seasons as well as capturing a Conference title in 2007-08. He also helped guide that team to the NCAA DIII Tournament (Elite 8) and coached numerous All-Conference and two All-South Region selections as well as one All-American honoree.

While at Millsaps, LeBlanc also served as an Intramural Director/Coordinator where he implemented and managed the college's intramural sports program.

LeBlanc is no stranger to the game of basketball as he was a four-year letterwinner for the Majors at Millsaps from 2002-06. He led his team to four SCAC Tournament appearances after appearing in 86 games and averaging 8.0 points a game. He finished his career shooting 83 percent from the free throw line, 37 percent from the floor and 35 percent from behind the arc. LeBlanc also ranks seventh all-time in 3-point attempts (338) and ninth in makes (112).

"Justin will help Centenary basketball move forward with his knowledge of strong academics and the overall nature of DIII as well as his strong recruiting ties in Louisiana and the Southeast," said Walsh.

He graduated from Millsaps in 2006 with a degree in Business Administration and a minor in French.

He currently resides in Shreveport with his wife, Caroline.

"I expect Justin to be involved in all aspects of our day to day operation as a program. I am excited to have someone with his work ethic coming on board with me. I also think that Justin and his wife Caroline will be a perfect fit for our Centenary family," said Walsh.
