SHREVEPORT-The Centenary men's basketball schedule for 2010-11 has been released as of Wednesday by head coach Adam Walsh. The schedule features 11 home games and a mix of in-state non-conference rivalries for the final year of NCAA Division I competition.

"This is a very challenging schedule that we have put together, however our entire team is very excited about this schedule and the challenges we have in front of us. Each one of us feels like we have a lot to prove," said Walsh.

With a schedule of 30 contests, the Gents will open the 2010-11 season at Memphis on Nov. 12. The first home game is slated for Nov. 17 against Arkansas-Monticello in the Gold Dome at 7:00 pm.

"Opening night should be fun for our guys to play against one of the top 5 recruiting classes in the country at Memphis," said Walsh.

Centenary will play 12 non-conference games and six will be against Louisiana schools, including two against Northwestern State, and one at Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana-Monroe, Tulane, and LSU.

"This non-conference schedule absolutely gives us a chance to prove ourselves against great in-state opponents with games that we hope will draw the attention of fans and student body alike as most of these games are within driving distance," said Walsh.

The Gents will also make a long road trip to face Big East Marquette (Dec. 20) for the second straight year and Wyoming (Dec. 22) of the Mountain West Conference.

Nine of the 11 home games scheduled will be against Summit League opponents. The Gents finished last season with a record of 8-21 and 3-15 among league play with two wins coming over IPFW.

"We feel like the Summit League is pretty wide open this year. There are the usual teams at the top including Oakland, IUPUI, and ORU and I expect South Dakota State and IPFW will challenge to finish in the top four as well. We know the league play is tough, but our expectations are that we will be competitive each and every night," said Walsh.
