SHREVEPORT-The 2010-11 Centenary women's basketball schedule has been released as of Sunday by head coach Kristen Davis. The Ladies are slated to play 25 games and 12 in the Gold Dome.

"I'm looking forward to the upcoming season. We have a competitive non-conference schedule that will help to prepare us for Summit League play," said Davis.

Centenary opens the season at Sam Houston State on Wednesday, Nov. 17 at Noon. The Ladies will play four non-conference contests before opening Summit League play.

UL-Monroe will travel to Shreveport to meet Centenary for its first home game in the Gold Dome on Tuesday, Nov. 23 at 5 pm.

Of the seven non-conference contests, five will be against in-state Louisiana rivals, including UL-Monroe, Northwestern State, UL-Lafayette, Southeastern and McNeese.

"Playing in-state schools always adds extra excitement to the game. Often are players will know or have competed against players from the opposing team in high school or AAU. I also believe the students and the community get even more fired up when we play in-state schools," said Davis.

As always, league play will be competitive as Centenary opens at Western Illinois (Dec. 4) and IUPUI (Dec. 6) before hosting Oakland (Dec. 29) and IPFW (Dec. 31) at home.

"The Summit League will be very competitive this year. South Dakota and Orals Roberts are expected to do very well. Every team continues to improve and recruit great players. Our players know they will have to be ready for a competitive battle every night from each team in the conference," said Davis.

Fans, note that double-header game times for the 2010-11 season will be at 2 pm and 4:30 pm for the Ladies and Gents.
