CONWAY, Ark.-The Centenary men's soccer team put up another valiant effort, but ultimately fell 2-1 in its season opener at Central Arkansas on Tuesday afternoon.

The Gents (0-1) used a Heath Cox goal to tie the game at 1-1 near the 36-minute mark, but a second-half score by Central Arkansas gave them the win, the first of the season.

Cox found the back of the net off a rebound shot by teammate Marcos Rodriguez.

Centenary tallied 11 shots, while seven landed on goal. Rodriguez led the team with three shots. Cox and Zac Farrar each had two.

Central Arkansas fired off 15 total shots, but only four were on goal.

Goal keeper Rennie Walker played all 90 minutes in the net, tallying two saves.

The Gents will be back in action when they travel to Nashville, Tenn. to face Belmont on Friday at 6:30 pm.
