Gents Drop 5-2 Contest at Belmont

NASHVILLE, Tenn.-Senior Heath Cox found the back of the net twice for the Centenary men's soccer team, but an accurate offensive effort by Belmont, sent the Gents home with a 5-2 loss on Friday evening in non-conference action.

The Gents (0-2) saw themselves down 2-0 after the 37-minute mark, but Cox netted his second goal of the season on a long strike nearly 25 yards out from junior teammate Tate McIntyre two minutes later.

Down 2-1 after the first half, Belmont would go up by two with another goal.

Though, sophomore Adam Ghaemmaghami shot was rebounded by Cox for his second goal of the night and third of the year with 72-minutes in.

Belmont would continue its offensive prowess with two later goals to come away with a convincing 5-2 win over Centenary.

The Gents fired off 15 shots to Belmont's 17. Nine landed on goal, led by Cox, senior Zac Farrar, and junior Ben Barcelona with two each.

Belmont had 17 shots and 10 on goal.

Centenary sophomore keeper Robbie Ramirez played the entire first half, collecting two saves, while senior Rennie Walker was in net the final half, tallying three saves.

The Gents will play one final game in Nashville against Lipscomb on Sunday at 12:05 pm.
