Ladies Golf Finishes 13th in Opening Tournament

DENTON, Texas-The Centenary women's golf team concluded the Worldlink North Texas Classic in 13th place after shooting a three-round score of 1021 over the last two days.

The Ladies were able to shed two strokes off their second round total, but weren't able to gain any ground, rounding out the 13-team tournament.

Centenary finished 149 shots behind tournament leader and host North Texas (297-291-284) with an 872.

Leading the way for the Ladies was sophomore Kyndal Rose (74-86-79) with a 48-hole score of 239, good enough for a tie for 42nd.

Classmate Rachel Grinnell (86-82-82) wrapped up play in 60th place and a score of 250, while sophomore Justine Kemp (89-81-89) finished 67th, nine strokes behind Grinnell with a 259.

Rounding out the Ladies scores were freshmen Sarah Bradshaw (90-93-90) in 68th with a 273 and Kylee Goldthorn (103-100-100) with a 303 in 69th place.

Individually, Susannah Grunden (69-71-70, 210) of Bowling Green held on to her early lead to capture the tournament title, while Kelsey Kipp (71-70-70, 211) of North Texas finished one stroke off the lead and Julie Aime (74-71-69, 214) of Lamar took third.

Behind North Texas in team titles was Sam Houston State (293-294-298, 885) in second and Lamar (306-303-292, 901) in third.

Centenary will return to tournament play on Sept. 27-28 at Louisiana-Monroe's Invitational held at Bayou Desiard Country Club.
