Tuesday, September 14, 2010
SHREVEPORT-Facing intracity rival, LSUS, away from Mayo Field, the Centenary women's soccer team struggled to gain any offensive momentum, falling 2-0 at the Swamp in non-conference action.

Centenary (1-4-0) had several opportunities to score, but were challenged by the feisty Pilot squad. The Ladies were outshot 18-14 on the day and were only able to fire off six shots on goal.

After a 0-0 stalemate through the first half, LSUS would go ahead 1-0 on a goal by Brooke Martin, assisted by Tarah Arrington.

Centenary tallied six corner kicks as four were late in the game, but weren't able to execute the advantage play.

With one minute remaining in the contest and hopes of still tying the game, the Ladies would allow one final goal to the Pilots off the foot of Arrington, assisted by Ashley Pope.

Sophomore Holden Penney fired off six shots, two of which landed on goal, while junior Candace Rushing and sophomore Kelly Fossard each had two shots, one on goal.

Also putting up shots were senior Kortney Causey, junior Traci Lee, freshman Justine Russell, and sophomore Allie Cortes.

Junior goal keeper Kalyn Harris would fall to 1-2 on the season after allowing two goals, while saving four.

Centenary will head to Tyler, Texas on Friday to take on NAIA Texas College at 5 pm.
